5 make trip to UFL's Hartford Colonials Tryout

On May 22nd five Hitz Sports’ clients made the trip to Danbury, CT to attend an open tryout for the Hartford Colonials UFL team.  Zack Anderson, Chris Merkle, Junior Jabbie, Nerraw McCormack, and Arlan Johnson joined a group of about 200 players, from a wide range of high end universities as well as lower level schools, looking for an opportunity to make the UFL team.

The tryout began bright and early with the players being timed in the 40 yard dash.  Afterwards, the players were broken down by position and went through a series of position and 1 on 1 drills ran by the respective position coaches.  It turned out to be a quite positive experience for our clients that attended.

This was the third and final open tryout for the team and the coaches were definitely impressed with the outcome of this tryout.  “This was by far our best camp,” Head Coach Chris Palmer said after the Danbury tryouts. “We had 245 kids. There were a couple guys, I have to go back and check them again because I thought they were so good. It was a real solid workout. I was very, very pleased”.

The Colonials currently have 40 players on their roster.  The team can add 12 players from a draft pool June 2 and sign another 18 after that to bring the total to 70 players for camp. The Colonials mini-camp is June 11-13 at Sage Park in Berlin.
