2005: Began his Arena Football 2 career as a rookie with the San Diego Riptide. In just thirteen games played, he led the af2 in kick return yards (1,666) and kick return touchdowns (6), while ranking among the league’s best in all-purpose yards (4th – 2,792) and scoring (10th – 206 points). “Speedy” broke six Riptide records and garnered Second Team honors on the National Conference All-af2 team for his efforts during the 2005 season.

2006: Played for the Manchester Wolves of AF2, in which he tallied a total of 2,525 all-purpose yards (4th in the league) and finished second in the league in scoring (276 points). In 15 games played on offense he collected 1,355 receiving yards (5th in the league), 118 receptions (5th in the league), and 45 touchdowns (2nd in the league). Defensively, he broke up seven passes and intercepted one pass in just two games played.

2007: Played for the Philadelphia Soul of the AFL, where he recorded 128 receiving yards, 3 TDs, 108 return yards, and adding 7.5 tackles on defense.

2008: Played for the Green Bay Blizzard of AF2, recorded 42 receptions for 485 yards and six TDs in 12 games, also had 46 kick returns for 955 yards (20.8 average).

Appeared on Michael Irvin’s 4th and Long reality TV show, where the winner earned a spot on the Dallas Cowboys training camp roster.  Steve was one of only 6 receivers that made the show, and he performed quite well making it to the 5th week.
