Senior (2009): Appeared in all 12 games for the Wildcats, as a starter at Linebacker. John finished 5th on the team in tackles with 51 (7.5 for loss) for the year to go along with 1 sack, and 2 fumbles forced and recovered. John was also very active in pass coverage recording 1 interception, 3 pass breakups, and 4 passes defended for the year. One of the fearless leaders of the defense, Houlik received the Nancy Bennett Memorial Award (representing fight, spirit and positive nature) at the team’s award banquet.
Junior (2008): Saw action in eight games during his junior campaign… Finished the season with 29 total tackles… In his first appearance of the season he collected seven tackles against Texas Tech… Had a total of five stops twice, against Colorado and Nebraska… Also had two pass breakups and one forced fumble on the season.
